The Reds are Coming

The other day, loverman referred to my period as the time “when all my dreams come true,” and started calling me “beautiful dreamer” until I made him stop. Euphemisms for That Time of The Month drive me crazy but I can't stop using them.

The flyleaves of The Curse are covered with period nicknames, many of which I had never heard. My new favorite is “too wet to plow,” although I can plow and be plowed just fine when I'm too wet to plow.

As you can probably guess, I reviewed The Curse: Confronting the Last Unmentionable Taboo: Menstruation, a book so feminist it has not just one, but two colons in its title. (Despite that foreboding omen, it's not a preachy book, just intrepid.)
